Cross Creek Round-Up was a huge success. Our annual dinner and silent auction was very noisy and a barrel of fun with more than one person being thrown into jail.
Cross Creek raises $17,163 in a matter of months. Thank you to several families who generously gave gifts to the school, ranging between $20 to $2400. Thanks you volunteers who donated at worked at our successful fundraising yard sale. Thank you local businesses and families, who gave a tremendous outpouring in support of the Spring Round-Up (our annual dinner and silent auction). And thank you to the several businesses who placed ads in our yearbook.
Congratulations to Mr. Randy Nelson for his new job opportunity at Doe River Gorge, a Christian camp near Elizabethton, TN. He and Stephanie Nelson took the reins of leadership at Cross Creek in June 2005. Thanks to them, Cross Creek became debt free in August 2005. In September, Cross Creek’s enrollment jumped 135% from 37 students to 87 students. Both Mr. Randy and Stephanie Nelson continue to be active at Cross Creek, providing a smooth transition by remaining in touch with our new principal, Mr. Womac.
Congratulations to Mr. Timothy Womac for becoming Cross Creek’s newest principal. Mr. Womac has been at Cross Creek at four years. He has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades, as well as high school classes in his home turf of US and World History. This past year, he served as Registrar, learning the ins and outs of administration and working with staff, becoming an Assistant Principal. One of his first acts as principal was to recruit new teachers for the upcoming 09-10 school year. These included Miss Jeni Hinton (2nd Grade), Miss Debbie Wright (High School Math), and Miss Becky Webb (Chemistry). When asked about the promotion and the end of the year, he just grins and says, “I feel like Davy Crockett – King of the Wild Frontier.” He also states that he is looking forward to the next year and that Cross Creek has a “fantastic” collection of teachers. He also states that he is thankful to have Miss Pam Packett, our former 2nd grade teacher, to serve as the school’s new registrar. Also he is thrilled that Miss Cathy Ivey , our secretary, has agreed to become our new bookkeeper. He describes Miss Pam and Miss Ivey as left and right arms. He also states that he is thankful that Mr. and Mrs. Nelson have been very gracious with their time in preparing for the upcoming year.
Cross Creek Kindergarten Graduation. Thank you Pam Packett for orchestrating it so well.
Cross Creek High School Graduation. Thanks to Miss Stephanie Nelson, we had a beautiful ceremony at the 1st United Methodist Church of Sweetwater. Also, several students had scholarships conferred onto them by Tennessee Wesleyan College, Lincoln Memorial University, and Lee University. Congratulations Seniors! And May You Be Forever Young.
