Florida Trip 2013
While East Tennessee said goodbye to winter with an Easter squall that dusted the roads with snow, intrepid students and their chaperones bundled into three vehicles ("Albert", "Mr. T", and "Mr. Nelly's car") and headed gleefully for warmer climes. It was warmer in Altamonte Springs, FL, but not by much! Even though several of the "water fun" plans had to be scrapped for other activities, the record low temperatures and bright sunshine kept the crew cool and comfortable, and the typical Spring Break crowds from being a bother. Even the lines at Bush Gardens were manageable!
Aunt Kristen offered her home to the fellows, and Nan offered hers to the gals. The ladies provided us with great meals and snacks, and the opportunity to visit Lil 500 go-cart track, an institution of fun for over thirty years! There was a trip to down-town Orlando, Bush Gardens theme park, New Smyrna Beach, and historic St. Augustine, as well as volleyball, football, and "Kill the Man With the Ball" at Uncle Alex's house.
Fun, fellowship and food...a great combination for a really wonderful retreat.
